Founded in 1917, Lions International is a service club organization with over 50,000 clubs. Locally, we have the Schumacher Lions Club. This group, known for their motto “We Serve,” is dedicated to community service. The three mission pillars defining their aim are to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities and support those in need.
The Schumacher Lions Club works diligently to achieve these mission pillars. Through their participation in Jackpot City Bingo, they are able to make a generous donation of $50,000 to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. This donation is going towards the Reimagining Healthcare campaign that is focusing on the redevelopment of the emergency department and the purchase of new equipment across many areas of the hospital.
Club president Rob Huff explained that by supporting the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH), they are supporting not only our community, but the entire northeast region as TADH services such a wide geographic area. The Schumacher Lions recognize that our hospital has people coming from all over, so it is imperative that we maintain these services. He also noted the aging population and growing needs of the community. Huff said “…there is nothing better to support.”
It is only with the support of organizations such as the Schumacher Lions Club that the hospital foundation is able to support the hospital and assist in purchasing needed equipment and funding renovations. These donations have a lasting impact.

Le Lions Club de Schumacher Fait un Don de 50 000 $ pour Soutenir le Projet Réimaginons les Soins de santé
Fondé en 1917, Lions International est une organisation de clubs de service comptant plus de 50 000 clubs.
Au niveau local, nous avons le Lions Club de Schumacher. Ce groupe, connu pour sa devise « Nous servons », est dévoué au service communautaire. Ses trois piliers de mission définissent son objectif : améliorer la santé et le bien-être, renforcer les communautés et soutenir les personnes dans le besoin.
Le Lions Club de Schumacher travaille avec diligence pour atteindre ces objectifs. Grâce à sa participation au Bingo Jackpot City, il a pu faire un généreux don de 50 000 $ à la Fondation de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district. Ce don est destiné à la campagne Réimaginons les soins de santé, qui vise la rénovation du service des urgences et l’acquisition de nouveaux équipements pour de nombreux services de l’hôpital.
Le président du club, Rob Huff, a expliqué qu’en soutenant l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district (HTD), ils soutiennent non seulement leur communauté, mais aussi toute la région du Nord-Est, car l’HTD dessert une vaste zone géographique. Le club Lions de Schumacher reconnaît que notre hôpital accueille des patients de partout, il est donc impératif de maintenir ces services. Il a également souligné le vieillissement de la population et les besoins croissants de la communauté. Huff a déclaré : « Il n’y a rien de mieux à soutenir. »
C’est uniquement grâce au soutien d’organisations comme le club Lions de Schumacher que la fondation de l’hôpital est en mesure de le soutenir et de contribuer à l’achat du matériel nécessaire et au financement des rénovations. Ces dons ont un impact durable.
