John Paris (J.P.) Bickell was a Canadian businessman, philanthropist and sports team owner. Through these endeavours, he rose in financial status, but remained a humble, private man.
“The J.P. Bickell Foundation, administered by ScotiaTrust serves as Mr. Bickell’s lasting legacy and at his bequest supports health, medical research, arts and culture, social services, the environment, and education in Ontario. The Foundation has continued to give back to the Timmins Community since it was established in 1952 upon his passing. The Timmins and District Hospital Foundation has received a $150,000 grant toward the Emergency Department Redevelopment project. We felt Camp Bickell was an appropriate backdrop to make the announcement, considering Mr. Bickell has continued to be giving back to the Community through the Foundation,” explained Graham MacLachlan, Chairman and Bickell family relative.

John Paris (J.P.) Bickell était un homme d’affaires canadien, philanthrope et propriétaire d’équipes sportives. Grâce à ses nombreuses réalisations, il a connu une grande réussite financière, tout en demeurant un homme humble et discret.
« La Fondation J.P. Bickell, administrée par ScotiaTrust, perpétue l’héritage de M. Bickell. Conformément à son testament, elle soutient des initiatives en santé, en recherche médicale, en arts et culture, en services sociaux, en environnement et en éducation partout en Ontario. Depuis sa création en 1952, à la suite du décès de M. Bickell, la Fondation continue de redonner à la communauté de Timmins. La Fondation de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district a reçu une subvention de 150 000 $ pour appuyer le projet de réaménagement du service des urgences. Nous avons choisi le Camp Bickell comme lieu de cette annonce, puisqu’il représente bien l’héritage de générosité de M. Bickell envers notre communauté », a expliqué Graham MacLachlan, président et membre de la famille Bickell.
